Ingredients

Bread

  • 3⁄4 cup milk, heated
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1⁄2 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 5 string cheese, cut into 5 small pieces

Topping

  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 garlic clove, grated
  • 2 tbsp parsley
  • Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp cream

Steps

Bread

  1. In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, yeast, and honey. Let sit until foamy, 10 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  3. Stir flour into yeast mixture.
  4. Continuing stirring until a dough forms.
  5. Transfer dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead until smooth, 5-6 minutes.
  6. Put the dough into a lightly greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap; let sit until nearly doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  7. Portion dough into 24 small balls and fill each with a piece of cheese.
  8. Grease the flower shaped baking pan and place a ramekin in the center.
  9. Nestle the dough balls side-by-side, forming two rows; cover loosely with plastic wrap and let sit until doubled in size, about 2 hours.
  10. Preheat oven to 350 and bake for about 25 minutes.

Topping

  1. Melt butter and garlic over low heat; stir in parsley.
  2. In a separate sauce pan, heat marinara and add cream.
  3. When bread is done, brush with garlic, parsley, butter, and fill ramekin with sauce.
