Edible Straws

Our apologies for leaving out the classic Twizzler-with-both-ends-bitten-off straw.

Ingredients

  • 24 Jolly Ranchers, assorted colors
  • Wooden skewers

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Prepare a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
  3. Place 4 Jolly Ranchers in a row on prepared baking sheet. Bake until the candy is melted and bubbling all the way to the center, about 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven and smooth out the bubbles with a spoon or spatula. Make sure it is cool enough to touch, and quickly roll it onto a greased skewer.
  5. Slide off and lay seam side down to cool.

Ingredients

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Wooden skewers or straws

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Prepare a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat egg whites and sugar until fluffy. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.
  4. Drop a teaspoon of the batter on prepared baking sheet and spread to a thin 3 inch by 7 inch rectangle using an offset spatula. Bake for 4 to 6 minutes or until the edges just start to brown.
  5. Quickly roll the cookie onto a straw or skewer and lay seam-side down until cool.

Ingredients

  • 6 strips thick sliced bacon
  • Wooden skewers

Steps

  1. Wrap slices of bacon around wooden skewers in a spiral, being sure to overlap the edges on each round.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool.
