French Dip Sliders

Packed with caramelized onions and cheesy goodness, these savory sliders are full of flavor.

  • For the sliders:
  • Butter, for greasing pan
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 (24-ounce) bag King's Hawaiian Original sweet rolls
  • 1 1/4 pounds roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 10 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • For the au jus:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 (14-ounce) can beef stock
  • Dash of cooking sherry (optional)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until tender and caramelized, about 10 minutes. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 more minute. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, horseradish and Dijon. Set aside.
  4. Slice the entire package of rolls in half without separating them into rolls.
  5. Place the bottom layer of rolls into the prepared baking dish. Spread with the mayonnaise mixture, then top with the caramelized onions, roast beef and Swiss cheese. Top with the other half of the rolls and brush with melted butter.
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until cheese is melted and rolls are golden brown.
  7. For the au jus, melt 2 tablespoons butter in a medium saucepan. Sprinkle in flour and stir with a wooden spoon until pasty. Whisk in beef stock, bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and season with a dash of cooking sherry (optional). Serve alongside the sliders.
