Mochi on a Stick

Sweet, savory and a bit nutty, this mochi on a stick is a flavor-packed snack.


  • 400 grams cooked rice
  • Sesame seeds
  • Sauce:
  • 1 tablespoon miso
  • 20 milliliters mirin
  • 20 milliliters soy sauce
  • 30 grams walnuts, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 50 milliliters water


  1. Mash up a bowl of rice.
  2. Transfer mashed rice onto a sheet of plastic wrap and place a popsicle stick on top. Using the wrap, mold into a rectangular shape, making sure the stick is pushed into the middle of the rice.
  3. Cook both sides in a frying pan.
  4. Add all ingredients for the sauce into the pan and cook for another minute.
  5. Sprinkle sesame seeds on before serving.
