Jalapeno Popper Pinwheel Burger

Enhance your burger experience with a bun made of puffed pastry wrapped with jalapeno peppers and cheddar cheese.


  • Pinwheel:
  • 2 full sheets of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup jalapeño, chopped
  • Caramelized onions:
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 onions, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Burger:
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Garnish:
  • Sliced cheddar cheese
  • Bacon
  • Caramelized onions


  1. For the pinwheel: Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Roll out puff pastry sheets and lay out next to one another as if you had one long sheet. Sprinkle with cheese and jalapeño. Roll into a pinwheel, and cut into 8 pieces. Lay out on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. For the caramelized onions: Heat oil and butter in a saute pan on medium heat. Add onions and salt, and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  4. For the burger: Season ground beef with salt and pepper, and form 4 burger patties.
  5. Heat oil in a saute pan on medium-high heat. Cook burgers until desired temperature. Sandwich a burger between two pinwheels. Garnish with cheddar cheese, bacon and caramelized onions.
