Japanese French Toast

Think of this as a cross between savory French toast and a salmon melt sandwich.


  • 2 slices bread
  • 1 sheet nori
  • 1 slice cheese
  • 30 grams salmon flakes
  • 10 grams mayonnaise with mustard
  • 2 eggs, whisked
  • 1 tablespoon dashi stock
  • 2 teaspoons milk


  1. Spread mayonnaise with mustard onto bread. Then top with nori, salmon flakes, cheese and another slice of bread.
  2. Combine whisked egg, milk and dashi stock into a tray and soak bread in mixture.
  3. Cook both sides in a frying pan until golden brown.
  4. Cut in half and transfer to a plate.
  5. Wrap nori sheet around each and enjoy.
