Jumbo Udon Gyoza

Who needs gyoza wrappers when you can use udon instead?

Ingredients

  • 2 packs udon noodles
  • Gyoza filling:
  • 150 grams ground pork
  • 50 grams cabbage
  • 10 grams perilla leaves
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 tablespoon instant chicken bouillon
  • Others:
  • 6 slices cheese
  • 3 tablespoons sake
  • Chopped scallions
  • Sesame seeds
  • Sauce:
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Drop of chili oil

Steps

  1. Microwave udon noodles for 1 minutes. Using a rolling pin, flatten the noodles.
  2. Combine all ingredients for the gyoza filling and mix well.
  3. Place gyoza filling on top of udon noodles. Top with sliced cheese and place the other sheet of udon on top.
  4. Heat sesame oil in a frying pan and cook until both sides are toasty and golden brown.
  5. Pour in sake and cook covered on medium heat for 10 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle on scallions and sesame seeds and serve with sauce.
