Ingredients
Ketchup and Mustard Cake
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons natural red food coloring
- Mini hamburger gummies
“Mustard” frosting
- 6 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- Yellow food coloring
Steps
Ketchup and Mustard Cake
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease 2 9-inch cake pans and line with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together dry ingredients. Set aside.
- In a stand mixer, add butter, brown sugar and eggs; mix until smooth. Add ketchup, water and food coloring.
- Carefully add dry ingredients to wet mixture, scraping down sides of the mixer until everything is smooth and combined. Pour batter into prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting.
- Frost cake and decorate with hamburger gummies. Enjoy!
“Mustard” frosting
- In a medium bowl, add all frosting ingredients except for the powdered sugar. Use a hand mixer until everything is combined. Slowly add powdered sugar in batches until smooth.
