Ingredients

Ketchup and Mustard Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons natural red food coloring
  • Mini hamburger gummies

“Mustard” frosting

  • 6 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • Yellow food coloring

Steps

Ketchup and Mustard Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease 2 9-inch cake pans and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together dry ingredients. Set aside.
  3. In a stand mixer, add butter, brown sugar and eggs; mix until smooth. Add ketchup, water and food coloring.
  4. Carefully add dry ingredients to wet mixture, scraping down sides of the mixer until everything is smooth and combined. Pour batter into prepared cake pans.
  5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting.
  6. Frost cake and decorate with hamburger gummies. Enjoy!

“Mustard” frosting

  1. In a medium bowl, add all frosting ingredients except for the powdered sugar. Use a hand mixer until everything is combined. Slowly add powdered sugar in batches until smooth.
