- These are my three friends, container, pan and tongs. But all three of these items have alter egos. Yes that's right, they are useful for more than just their primary purpose, and I'm gonna show you those other uses right now. This is Kitchen Gadgets That You Already Own! We've all been there. A fantastic cutlet recipe! And then the dreaded line, use your meat tenderizer to flatten the piece of protein. But I don't have a meat tenderizer. But yes you do! Saran wrap, chicken breast, Saran wrap. Meat tenderizer, a.k.a. frying pan. If that ain't a cutlet, I don't know what is. Thank you very much. I just saved you money. Next! You've got to halve a bunch of grapes or cherry tomatoes, and it is tedious and you don't like knives. Well guess what? With your takeout container tops or the bottoms of plates, anything with a little lip, you can come in, boom, boom, boom! Not only do you have a knife guide and guard but you have perfectly halved tomatoes. Next! You're on someone's Instagram page and they've made a beautiful salad and everything it cut so thinly because they used their high quality Japanese mandolin that costs a fortune. How are you to replicate those incredibly precise, even and thin cuts? The answer is simple. Your potato peeler. That's right. It's a mandoline. Look at that. I mean are you kidding me? Problem solved. Next! You get sick of buying basil or parsley in a package that wilts away in three days. So what do you do? You buy the little one that grows out of the thing. And what happens? A week later this is so top heavy and you realize that this is not enough soil to support the growth of your wonderful herbage. What are you gonna do? You gonna go buy a planter? No, you're not gonna buy a planter. You're gonna use an old can of coffee or tomato and that's gonna be your planter. Check it out. Free planter. Also very efficient form of recycling. Next! You've got your citrus. You can only get it so far. What do you do? Tongs! Use leverage and cantilevered power to extract, ooh, even the fine eucalyptus spray. And then of course the other problem is seeds. What are you to do with the seeds because you don't have a seed catcher? Well, the seeds are in the middle of the lemon, so if you cut a lemon like this, no seeds, no seeds, that's pretty efficient cutting if you ask me. And now you can come in and squeeze seed-free lemon like a pro. So there you go. A mandoline, a citrus juicer, a meat tenderizer, a planter, and a tomato slicer 3000 which you can create with plates. And that's it. Kitchen gadgets you already own. You don't need to spend money. They're just trying to sell you stuff you don't need.
