• For the chocolate cake:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups butter, softened at room temperature
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream, room temperature
  • For decorating:
  • 2 cups chocolate frosting
  • 1/2 cup red frosting
  • 1 cup marzipan, rolled out to a 6 by 8 square
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate, melted


  1. Make the chocolate cake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9 by 13-inch cake pan with baking spray and parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cocoa. Using a hand mixer, blend the butter, eggs and vanilla into the dry mix. Fold in the sour cream. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the cake has set slightly. Set aside to cool completely.
  3. Decorate the cake: Place the cooled cake on a serving platter. Cut the sheet with two simple cuts to create the body of a wine bottle. Reserve the pieces to create the neck of the bottle. Cover the bottle with chocolate frosting. Cover the neck with red frosting. Place the marzipan square on the bottom half of the bottle to create the wine label. Place the melted chocolate in a piping bag, and decorate the label to personalize for yo’ mama.
