Matcha Cake Tiramisu

Take your tiramisu to the next level with delightfully yummy matcha powder and homemade syrup.


  • 2 slices of sponge cake
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2/3 cup of mascarpone cheese
  • 2 teaspoons of rum
  • 3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt
  • Matcha powder, for garnish
  • Confectioner's sugar, for garnish
  • Matcha syrup:
  • 2 teaspoons of matcha powder
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 3 1/2 ounces of hot water


  1. Combine ingredients for matcha syrup and mix well. Set to the side to let it cool.
  2. Place one slice of sponge cake in a cake pan. Brush half the matcha syrup onto the first layer of cake and let it soak in.
  3. In a bowl, whip the cream with the sugar until stiff peaks form. Fold in egg yolks, mascarpone cheese, rum and Greek yogurt.
  4. Pour half of this mixture over the first layer of cake.
  5. Place the second layer of cake onto the cream. Brush the remaining matcha syrup onto the cake. Pour the cream mixture on top.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  7. Before serving, dust the top with matcha powder and confectioners' sugar.
