Meat Bun in Soup

A meat bun is yummy on its own, but even better with crab and egg drop soup.


  • 2 store-bought Chinese meat buns
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • Soup:
  • 200cc water
  • 1/2 tablespoon chicken bouillon
  • 1/2 tablespoon sake
  • Salt
  • White pepper
  • 80 grams canned crab meat
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Other ingredients:
  • Potato starch slurry (20cc water plus 1 teaspoon potato starch)
  • Sesame seeds
  • Green onions, chopped


  1. Heat sesame oil in a frying pan and cook the meat buns on both sides until lightly browned and crispy.
  2. In a saucepan, combine crab, water, chicken bouillon, sake, salt and white pepper and bring to a boil.
  3. Turn off heat and stir in slurry. Stir and cook until thickened.
  4. Add in beaten egg and heat until egg is cooked.
  5. Transfer meat bun to a bowl and pour soup in.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
