Meatball Shell Lollipops

These crispy, fried pasta shells stuffed with juicy meatballs are just prime for dipping.

Ingredients

Meatball Shell Lollipops

  • 1 pound extra large pasta shells
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups Italian bread crumbs
  • Parsley, for garnish
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping
  • Small wooden skewers

Meatball Mixture

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup parsley, chopped
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon plain bread crumbs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Steps

Meatball Shell Lollipops

  1. Preheat a few inches of oil in a large heavy-bottomed saucepan to 325 degrees.
  2. Make a meatball using one tablespoon of mixture and place inside one cooked pasta shell and cover with another shell. Put a skewer through a bit of shell and inside meatball. Dredge in flour and shake off excess. Roll shells in beaten egg followed by bread crumbs. Shake off excess.
  3. Carefully place a few skewers in hot oil. Fry for 5-8 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Drain on a paper towel lined plate. Garnish with parsley. Dip in marinara sauce and enjoy!

  1. In a large bowl mix together all meatball ingredients until evenly combined.
