Mini Skull Cakes

Scare your friends with these sugary glazed skull cakes.

Ingredients

Mini Skull Cakes

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Sanding sugar

Glaze

  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps

Mini Skull Cakes

  1. Make the glaze.
  2. In another bowl add flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Alternate between adding wet ingredients with dry ingredients into butter mixture.
  4. Mix for 30 seconds after incorporated until smooth.
  5. Pour batter into a skull pan sprayed with PAM.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
  7. Gently loosen cake from pan with knife and turn out onto wire rack; cool completely.
  8. Dip cake in glaze and cover with sanding sugar.

Glaze

  1. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
  2. Whisk until smooth.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar together.
  4. Add eggs in one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Add vanilla extract into measuring cup with milk.
