Scare your friends with these sugary glazed skull cakes.
Ingredients
Mini Skull Cakes
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Sanding sugar
Glaze
- 3-4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Steps
Mini Skull Cakes
- Make the glaze.
- In another bowl add flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Alternate between adding wet ingredients with dry ingredients into butter mixture.
- Mix for 30 seconds after incorporated until smooth.
- Pour batter into a skull pan sprayed with PAM.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
- Gently loosen cake from pan with knife and turn out onto wire rack; cool completely.
- Dip cake in glaze and cover with sanding sugar.
Glaze
- In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Whisk until smooth.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar together.
- Add eggs in one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Add vanilla extract into measuring cup with milk.
