Philly Cheesesteak Pastry Bombs

Talk about an explosion of flavor! Warm, cheesy, meaty flavor...


  • For the dough:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp water
  • For the filling:
  • 5 oz sirloin steak, finely sliced
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tbsp oil


  1. Make the dough: In a mixing bowl, add the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Stir to mix all ingredients together. Add the oil and milk in slowly, stirring and mixing together. Knead to form a smooth dough, then cover and set aside to rest for 1 hour.
  2. Make the filling: In a large frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the beef, and cook until browned all over. Remove from the heat, and set aside in a bowl.
  3. In the same frying pan, heat another tablespoon of oil, then add the onion and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes or until starting to soften. Tip into the bowl with the beef. Set aside to cool.
  4. To assemble: Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  5. Uncover the dough, knead for 2 to 3 minutes then divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Dust flour generously, and roll out each piece into a very thin round circle.
  6. Next, stack them as you go, and add a dusting in between each circle. Roll them out gently and slowly to make larger and thinner sheets.
  7. One at a time, brush melted butter on the top surface, then flip it over, and add the meat filling in the middle. Next, top with a quarter of the cheese.
  8. Close in the sides of the round sheet in your hand, and twist the bottom. Then tuck in the top half underneath to create a pretty fan design.
  9. Repeat the same for remaining sheets.
  10. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and grease with oil. Mix water and eggs together to create egg wash.
  11. Transfer the pies onto the baking pan, and brush with egg wash.
  12. Bake for 25 minutes, then set aside to cool.
