Ingredients

Ramen Fried Popcorn Chicken

  • 1/2 pound about 250 to 300 grams of boneless chicken filet
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon miso
  • 2 tablespoons corn flour
  • 1 cup crushed ramen
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Daikon, shredded served on the side
  • Shredded nori
  • Green onions, fine slices

Teriyaki sauce

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup mirin
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour
  • 2 tablespoons water

Steps

Ramen Fried Popcorn Chicken

  1. Chop chicken to bite sized pieces and place in a bowl. Add the egg and miso and mix then sprinkle over corn flour and mix.
  2. Pour the ramen. Mix well and set these aside for about 5 minutes. Heat oil to 350 F and deep fry meat evenly till golden 2-3 minutes. Keep stirring for even frying. Drain popcorn chicken on a paper towel and set aside.
  3. Sprinkle nori and green onions overtop. Serve the daikon on the side.

Teriyaki sauce

  1. For the sauce, combine all ingredients except the cornflour and water and bring to a simmer.
  2. Mix the cornflour with water in a small bowl until dissolved and then add to sauce to thicken slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and serve alongside the chicken.
