serving time1 Trifle

Ingredients

  • 3 potato waffles, frozen

  • 15-24 mozzarella dippers, frozen

  • ½ jar cranberry sauce

  • 350g cauliflower cheese, frozen

  • 250g sliced carrots, frozen

  • 450g mashed potato

  • butter

Instructions

  1. Arrange two waffles onto the bottom of a heatproof dish and cut the third waffle down to fit into the gaps. Place in a preheated oven for 2-3 minutes to start cooking as these take longer than the other frozen ingredients.

  2. Once out of the oven arrange a layer of mozzarella dippers covering the layer of waffles. Place back in the oven for 10 minutes. You may need to extend your cooking times if your waffles and mozzarella dippers take longer to cook.

  3. Meanwhile heat the frozen cauliflower cheese, carrots and mash in the microwave to package instructions.

  4. Once out of the oven spoon on the cranberry sauce and spread it over the mozzarella dippers. Add the cauliflower cheese and carrots before spooning on the mashed potato.

  5. Add a knob of butter to the top and place the trifle in the oven for 10-15 minutes until golden on top and heated thoroughly. Enjoy :D

- Hey guys, today I'm showing you how to make a savory frozen trifle. This is one of the easiest dinners you'll ever make and it really is delicious. The great thing with this recipe, you don't need to stick to the same ingredients as I'm using, you can use up leftovers from your fridge or freezer to create your savory trifle. So for my base I like to start with some potato waffles. Depending on what size dish I usually use I can fit about two waffles into the center and with my third waffle I cut that into about four and then this can be used to fill in any gaps. Because my waffles take a little bit longer than my next layer, I'm gonna pop that in the oven for about two to three minutes. Next layer is my favorite, mozzarella dippers. I always have these in my freezer. This will make the perfect next layer. It'll be ooey and gooey. So you wanna grab them and push them all around on top of the waffles. This can now go back in the oven. My mozzarella dippers take 13 minutes to make so I'm gonna pop it in for about 10 minutes, just to get is nice, heated up and cooked through because later on, when I've got everything else in it's gonna be going in for another 10 to 15 minutes. Time to add in some color to my trifle. I'm doing that by adding some cranberry sauce. I love cranberry sauce. I think it goes so well with the mozzarella dippers and adds a really nice tartness. So I'm gonna spoon this on, about half a jar, and just spread it all over. As I'm using a glass dish, I like to push it right to the edges so you can see the layers. You've got to add in some veggies. I'm using my favorite, which is cauliflower. Not just cauliflower, cauliflower cheese. This will add a nice sauce to the trifle and it will drip down to the waffles. So pour that in. I've already cooked this in the microwave. It's a bit al dente, and it'll finish off cooking in the oven. You don't have to use cauliflower. This is the time to use up the leftover veg that is left in the freezer. Chuck 'em all in and it'll be absolutely delicious. Next for me, I'm adding carrots. It's what I had most of in the freezer and it adds a lovely pop of color to the trifle. The layers are looking great. When you serve this up you'll see all of the different colors and the flavor combination is awesome. Now to top it all off, and to treat it like a trifle pie, I'm gonna top it with some mash. Now this can be leftover from your last night's dinner. Jacket potatoes you need to use up, or if you're wanting it to be a real quick and easy, convenient recipe you can buy a pot from the supermarket. So I'm gonna pour that all over and spread it round. I can't have mash without butter so I'm going to add a nice dollop on top and then this can go in the oven for about 10 to 15 minutes and then the top will be lovely and golden brown. Once it's out of the oven, tuck in and enjoy. So that is how you make my savory frozen trifle. Easy.
