Skillet Beef Stroganoff

Satisfy your craving for savory, creamy deliciousness with this classic Russian dish.


  • 300 grams beef round
  • 1 large onion
  • 150 grams mushrooms
  • 30 grams butter
  • 90 grams sour cream
  • 50 milliliters white wine
  • 200 milliliters water
  • 1 teaspoon ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard
  • 5 grams flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper


  1. Cut beef into 5mm strips. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  2. Slice onions thinly. Cut mushrooms into 5mm slices.
  3. Heat some oil in a frying pan and cook the beef over high heat. Once the surface of the meat has changed color, take it out and set aside.
  4. Add butter to the same pan. Saute the onions over medium heat until golden brown. Then add the mushrooms and flour and cook until mushrooms have softened. Add the beef back in.
  5. Add in white wine and continue to cook until the alcohol has evaporated. Then add in the sour cream, water, ketchup and mustard. Simmer for 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve with buttered rice and/or french fries. Sprinkle on chopped parsley for color and flavor if desired.
