Smoked Ribs
Turn any grill into a smoker with one surprising secret ingredient.
Ingredients
- 2 racks pork ribs, membrane removed
- 1 bottle of beer
- Applewood chips
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground coffee
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
Steps
- Make the smoker pan and grill: Soak 4 cups applewood chips in beer.
- Remove chips from beer and place in an aluminum pan.
- Cover pan with aluminum foil and poke several holes with a skewer.
- Turn the gas grill on and place the pan over a low flame. Chips should start to smoke within 10 minutes.
- Make the rub: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, ground coffee, salt, and pepper.
- Allow ribs to rest at room temperature for 20 to 25 minutes and then cover with prepared rub.
- Place ribs on gas grill opposite the smoke pan and cook slowly for 2 to 3 hours or until the internal temperature is at least 145 degrees. Ribs will become super tender at 180 degrees and up.
- Serve with barbecue sauce.
