Spicy Pomegranate-Cranberry Margarita

Jalapeños turn an already tasty beverage into a spicy party in your mouth.

Ingredients

Spicy Pomegranate-Cranberry Margarita

  • 2 tablespoons pomegranate cranberry compote (see recipe below)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce fresh orange juice
  • 4 ounces tequila
  • Ice

Pomegranate-Cranberry Ice Cubes

  • 1 large cube silicone mold
  • Hot water
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Fresh cranberries

Pomegranate-Cranberry Compote

  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (depending on how spicy you like it)
  • 1/4 cup fresh pomegranate seeds
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 orange, zested and juiced
  • 2-4 tablespoons water

Steps

Spicy Pomegranate-Cranberry Margarita

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle compote and top with remaining ingredients.
  2. Fill with ice and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until chilled.
  3. Strain into an old fashioned glass with a few pomegranate-cranberry ice cubes.

Pomegranate-Cranberry Ice Cubes

  1. Drop a few pomegranate seeds and cranberries into ice mold.
  2. Top with hot water.
  3. Freeze until firm.

Pomegranate-Cranberry Compote

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook for 10-12 minutes until cranberries pop and mixture is reduced to a syrup.
  2. Allow to cool completely before using in cocktail.
