The cheese pulls just keep coming with these crispy yet chewy savory ham, cheese and bacon filled turnovers.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 6 slices ham
  • 9 slices cheese
  • 3 1/2 ounces bacon, fried and crumbled
  • 3 chives, diced

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a separate large bowl, add the yeast and water. Mix well, then cover with a clean cloth and let rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Add the flour to the yeast, mixing with your hands to combine into a dough.
  4. Cover with a cloth and let rest for another 10 minutes.
  5. Transfer dough to a surface sprinkled with flour and knead for 5 minutes. Return to bowl, cover with a cloth and let the dough rest again for 1 hour.
  6. On a surface sprinkled with flour, roll dough into a large rectangle. Add a layer of ham, then cheese, bacon and chives.
  7. Fold in the ends of the dough, then roll up into a rectangle. Cut a few slits on top of the stromboli, then bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden.
