Ooey & gooey, this sweet 'n' sour fried mochi is a treat for your taste buds!

Ingredients

Sweet & Sour Fried Mochi

  • 280g chicken thigh (makes 10 pieces)
  • 1 tbsp cooking sake
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp grated garlic
  • Flour, as needed
  • Oil for frying, as needed
  • 8 pieces mochi
  • 2 eggplants
  • 6 mini tomatoes
  • Grated daikon radish, as needed
  • Shiso leaves, as needed

Black Vinegar Sauce

  • 6 tbsp black vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1tbsp potato starch
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp cooking sake

Steps

Sweet & Sour Fried Mochi

  1. Heat oil to180℃ and deep fry mochi squares.
  2. Deep fry chicken and make 10 pieces of karaage.
  3. Deep fry eggplants without any breading.
  4. Add the fried mochi, karaage, fried eggplants and mini tomatoes to the pan and coat them in the sauce.
  5. Serve with grated daikon radish and Shiso leaves on top.

Black Vinegar Sauce

  1. In a pan, combine all the ingredients for the Black Vinegar Sauce.
  2. Heat until the mixture begins to thicken.
