Toronto Style BBQ Ribs

Julie proves you don't need a pit to make fall-off-the-bone ribs.

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds Pork side ribs, St Louis style
  • Salt and Pepper
  • BBQ Sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup miso paste
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire
  • 1/4 cup rum
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1/4 maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Dry mustard
  • Black pepper
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 F.
  2. Cut ribs into serving size (3-4) portions and season generously with salt and pepper. Wrap tightly in double thickness foil and place on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 1 1/2 hours.
  4. For the BBQ sauce, combine all sauce ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour into a roasting tray and set aside.
  5. Once cooked, unwrap the ribs and drain drippings. Submerge the ribs in the sauce coating completely.
  6. To finish the ribs, preheat your BBQ to a medium heat and place the ribs on the grill for 10 minutes basting with some of the remaining marinade every now and then until you have a sticky, crispy exterior.
