Torrone

Rich and chewy with bursts of crunchy peanut - just try resist taking seconds!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups corn syrup
  • 3 egg whites
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 pound roasted peanuts
  • Powdered sugar

Steps

  1. Prepare a square baking dish by lining with plastic wrap and sprinkling with cornstarch.
  2. In a large sauce pot over low heat, add the sugar and corn syrup. Boil for about 10 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until they form peaks. Slowly pour in the syrup while beating constantly. Stir in the peanuts. Pour mixture into prepared pan. Level the top and let cool for 6 hours. Cut and serve dusted with powdered sugar.
