Treasure Box Desserts 4 Ways

All that glitters could very well be one of these cake gems, geode cake pops, candy gems or agate lollipops.

Ingredients

  • Hard candies of your choice in any color (at least 5 varieties or colors)
  • Parchment paper
  • Lollipop sticks

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Place 3 to 5 pieces of each variety of hard candy into a small zip-top bag. Crush the pieces until fine.
  3. Cut ovals out of parchment paper a bit larger than your desired lollipop size, then cut out an oval in the center.
  4. Fold the inner and outer circle edges up to create a barrier to keep your hard candies in when they melt.
  5. In concentric circles, assemble your candies by color, filling the molds well. Bake for 4 to 6 minutes, until candies are sufficiently melted.
  6. Remove from oven and press lollipop sticks into the centers. Allow lollipops to set to ensure the sticks remain attached. Cool completely and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 18 teaspoons extract of your choice
  • 2 to 3 drops gel food coloring of your choice

Steps

  1. In a small saucepan, heat sugar, water and corn syrup. Bring to a boil and allow to reach 300 degrees (hard candy stage).
  2. Allow to cool slightly, then carefully stir in the extract and food coloring. Carefully pour the hot sugar into silicone or hard candy molds and allow to set completely at room temperature before removing from molds.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups candy melts the color of your choice
  • 3 teaspoons coconut oil
  • 2 cups vanilla cake, crumbled
  • 1/3 cup vanilla buttercream icing, tinted the color of your choice
  • Cake pop sticks
  • Rock candy crystals (at least 2 colors of your choice)

Steps

  1. In a heatproof bowl set over boiling water, heat the candy melts and coconut oil.
  2. Prepare cake pop filling by combining the crumbled vanilla cake and the tinted buttercream. Form 12 balls of cake pop filling. Insert a cake pop stick with a bit of candy melt on it into each ball and freeze for 15 minutes. Once chilled, remove a bit of each cake pop sphere to create an indentation for the geode decorations. Dip cake pops into candy melt mixture. Before the candy melts set, place the rock candy into the indentation. Allow to set completely before serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white candy melts
  • 2 cups candy melts in the 2 colors of your choice
  • 3 teaspoons coconut oil, divided
  • Edible glitter
  • Gold luster dust
  • 1 cup vanilla cake, crusts removed and crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla buttercream icing, tinted the color of your choice

Steps

  1. In a heatproof bowl set over boiling water, heat 1 cup candy melts and 1 teaspoon coconut oil at a time, keeping the colors separated.
  2. Dust the inside of a silicone candy gem mold with some edible glitter and/or luster dust, and fill the molds with swirls of alternating colors. Make sure to layer the candy melts thickly enough to create a shell that will contain your cake pop filling. Set aside and allow gem bases to set.
  3. While bases are setting, prepare cake pop filling by combining the crumbled vanilla cake and tinted buttercream. Fill set molds with cake pop mixture, and level the tops. Cover with more candy melt swirls and a dusting of glitter and luster dust. Allow to set completely, then gently remove from mold.
