Turon with Langka

One of the well-known dishes in the Philippines, this dish wraps sliced plantain (saba) and strips of ripe jackfruit (langka) in spring roll wrappers, frying the delicious bundle in brown sugar!

Ingredients

  • 5 pcs saba/plantains, cut in half lengthwise
  • 10 pcs lumpia wrapper
  • 1/2 cup ripe langka/jackfruit, cut into strips
  • 3 cups cooking oil
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar

Steps

  1. Place one wrapper on a plate. Coat a slice of banana with sugar and palce at the bottom-middle part. Add a few strips of langka. Roll once and fold the sides. Brush the ends with water to seal and roll completely.
  2. In a pan with hot oil over medium heat, add sugar. Wait for the sugar to brown and float and fry turon until golden brown and fully coated with sugar.
