Frankie's Baked Brie 2-Ways

Want to hack Thanksgiving this year? Frankie Celenza's baked brie two ways is the easy appetizer you've been looking for, especially when you get all your ingredients from the Walmart Grocery app! Sponsored by Walmart

Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel President Brie soft ripened cheese
  • 1 (16-ounce) bag Great Value Frozen Whole Berry Medley
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 (16-ounce) bottle POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. To make the compote: Add the berries, lime, sugar and salt into a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
  3. In a small bowl, add 1/4 cup of the POM juice to the cornstarch. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour the remaining bottle of juice into the saucepan with the berries as well as the cornstarch mixture. Stir to combine.
  5. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 15 to 20 minutes until reduced by half and thickened. Cool to room temperature.
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Place the Brie onto the prepared baking sheet and bake in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes until the center is softened and “wobbly.”
  8. Remove from oven, transfer to a serving plate or board.
  9. Top the cheese with a generous spoonful of berry compote. Serve with crackers and fruit.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 (17.3-ounce) box Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Frozen Sheets Pastry Dough, thawed
  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel President Brie soft ripened cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup Great Value Apricot Preserves
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, sliced
  • 2 Honeycrisp apples, sliced
  • 1 red Anjou pear, sliced
  • 1 green pear, sliced
  • 1 (4-ounce) bag Great Value Chopped Pecans
  • 1 box Great Value Entertainment Crackers

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Flour a clean, flat work surface. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry to a 10 by 10-inch square. Place the Brie in the center of the square and fold the flaps of pastry over the Brie, trimming any excess.
  3. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg. Place the pastry-wrapped brie onto the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down and then brush the top and sides with egg.
  4. Use a leaf-shaped cookie cutter to cut out 2 to 3 leaves from the remaining sheet of pastry.
  5. Place the decorative pastry leaves on the top of the brie. Brush with egg.
  6. Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes until the pastry dough is puffed and golden. Remove from the oven.
  7. Using a spatula, carefully remove the Brie and place onto a serving platter.
  8. Serve with apricot preserves, chopped pecans, fresh slices of apple or pear and crackers. Cut with a sharp knife and enjoy while warm.
