- I've been challenged to create a dish using only ingredients found at a fast food restaurant, so I'm here at the Wendy's drive-through to see if I can somehow make it happen. - [Worker] Hi, may I help you? - Hi, uh, how are you? - [Worker] Oh, good, thank you, how are you? - Good. Do you have any ingredients to make a pasta? - [Worker] I'm sorry? - I'm just kidding. Can I have one... Thank you. - [Worker] You're welcome. - I'm glad she laughed. But I asked about pasta because I think I wanna make something like um, pasta dough, gnocchi might be a good decision. I got some baked potatoes, so. It's gonna be interesting. This is quite the impressive spread, no? The easy part was ordering it, because the food came fast. Fast food. Now I'm left with the hard part of reconstructing this into an entirely different dish. I have a rough idea of what I want. Originally I wanted to make pasta dough somehow, but I think the more realistic, and I use the term realistic loosely here, is to make gnocchi and a chili mac and cheese sauce. First, I think I'll prepare the gnocchi. So usually you'd have some cooked potato and flour, so I'm gonna do a combination of baked potato, maybe bread buns, maybe french fries, I don't know. I didn't really think this through, to be honest. I just believed in myself, and sometimes that's all you need in life. I just want the potato, not the potato skins. Can't use flour or eggs, so I'm gonna go in with the crackers. I have no idea what I'm doing. ♪ But you gotta have faith ♪ It's pretty mushy already, so I think it'll be easy to mash together. A gluten-free burger! This needs a little bit of moisture, so I'm gonna add in light sour cream. Usually I use this to make gnocchi, or you know, worst case, I could just roll it with my hand. Let's see if it's rollable. Grab it, roll it like this. Kinda like a tater tot. Okay, let's see, will it roll? It's not so bad. Not so great. Hard part done. I can't believe how gnocchi-like they look. They're not gonna be the pillowy type, but it'll do. So I'm gonna set this aside and then work on the rest of the ingredients. This will be the cheese part of the sauce, obviously. It's eight containers of cheese on the side. Now let's separate the beef patties. Actually, multiple parts of the sandwich. Ooh, can we do something with the bacon? Maybe I'll crumble the bacon on top at the end, so I'll put this to the side. And I'm just gonna cut it up. Next the bacon. I think these need to be reheated, so I'm going to crisp them up in the pan a bit, but first cut them up. And chop up the onions a bit. Talk about a mise en place, right, right? Okay, so instead of oil, I'm gonna go ahead and use the buttery spread. It's not butter, but it's sure buttery. And that goes into this pan I have here. The bacon doesn't need butter, but I want it to be super crispy. In it goes. And drain it on some paper towel. Now for the onion. Some of the beef patties. This browned up nicely. I really wanted the cheeseburger to develop even more flavor. I don't know why this is so funny to me. All right, chili time. Just a little bit. Cheese sauce goes in, oh yeah. Dudes, I'm not gonna lie, this smells kinda good. The sauce is to the side, I've got some boiling water here, and it's time to cook the gnocchi. These are mighty dense. You guys, I'm shook. They actually floated to the top like actual gnocchi. I'm just gonna strain them out. These actually feel nice and pillowy. It's time to plate up. And there you have it. A cheesy, chili con cheeseburger gnocchi. Uh, I guess there's no better time than now to give this a try. Okay. Get a little bit of everything. Get lots of sauce. Cheers. It's actually really good. I expected a totally different outcome, and I can't believe I'm now going for a second bite. What is life? I'll see you guys next time, bye. Really good.
