These spooky Zombie Brain Cupcakes are sure to scare your guests this Halloween.
50 milliliters Red liquid food dye
2-3 drops of red gel food dye
1-2 teaspoons cocoa powder
1/2 cup corn syrup, maple syrup or golden syrup.
24 Red velvet cupcakes
For this recipe you'll need a batch of my buttercream frosting and a batch of my red velvet cupcakes.
Will make 24 zombie brain cupcakes OR 8-12 specimen jars, depending on how big your jars are.
To prepare edible blood:
1/ Mix syrup and liquid food dye together in a stain safe bowl.
To prepare brain cream:
1/ Add 2-3 drops of red food gel and cocoa powder to buttercream frosting and combine until coloured evenly.
To make the jars:
1/ Start off by piping some 'brain cream' squiggly lines in the bottom 3rd of the jar. Drizzle some edible blood (about 2 teaspoon) down the sides of the jar. Add a red velvet cupcake on top and pipe some more 'brain cream' on top and finish off with a drizzle of more edible blood.
To prepare brain cupcakes:
1/ Begin by piping a blob of frosting in the centre of the cupcake leaving about 1 centimeter of blank cupcake around the sides. Pipe a line of frosting across the top middle of the blob. Then pipe some squiggly lines around each side of the brain and finish off with a drizzle of edible blood on top.
