Yana Gilbuena of Salo Series and Irvianne Torremoro of Flavor and Bounty are teaming up again to bring a fall-themed kamayan-style popup dinner back in Austin.
Yana is a culinary nomad, who focuses on bringing people together over the love of her Filipino culture and food. She's done popups across the U.S. and around the world. Irvianne of Flavor and Bounty has worked in the food and beverage industry since her teens and followed her love of the industry by attending culinary school in Las Vegas. She moved to Austin in 2011 and started her blog, Flavor and Bounty, in May 2016 - focusing on telling the stories of people in the food and beverage industries.
These two friends have come together to collaborate on popup dinners in Austin and New York City, inspired by their shared culture and passion for Filipino food.
Barkada, in the Filipino slang, means gang/friend group - which is appropriate for this dinner, since it'll serve as an early Friendsgiving. The menu will focus on Filipino dishes with fall ingredients, serving as a place for friends, old and new, to come together over kamayan-style dining. See menu below:
